Here's a conversation starter:

What's the difference between a whip 2' long attached to a preamp that's
48' in the air, and a 50' wire attached to the same preamp on the ground?

Answer - a heck of a lot of difference depending on what the input of the
preamp is designed for. If the preamp is designed for a short 2 or 3 ft
long
whip, then the preamp will totally overload if you connect the same preamp
to a 48 ft long wire.

Overall noise pickup should be less on an isolated active whip that is 48ft
 in the air
compared to the noise pickup on a 50' wire that goes right down to ground
level. That
is one of the advantages of a small active whip.
