    I took the Lankford design to task primarily due to the use of an
obsolete transistor (2N5160), plus the lack of temperature compensation for
the output stage.  Back then, the transistors I used (BFQ19, BFQ149) cost
about $1 each, but now they're down to about 50¢, so the total parts cost is
less than $4.
