Hi all:
Like many, I have been fighting the ever growing noise problem from
in house devices that have SMPS's. After much very valuable info.
from guys on the list, I was able to figure out how to start ridding
myself of the horrible crud that made radioing almost impossible.
One by one, I started tracking down, and filtering out the wahzoo,
the offending devices. PC's, the daughters WII, internet routers,
cable modems. I either filtered, or replaced with an analog supply
where current issues would permit the use of a cheap wall-wart.
I finally had myself down to only 1 device still causing noise
problems; a 1997 model, 27 inch TV in my daughters room. The noise
from it is from the horizontal sweep, so I just resigned myself to
put up with it. Well, a few days ago, a very heavy T-Storm decided
to sit down right on top of me. A lightening flash right outside my
home took out my stereo in the living room, and a couple of days
later, the big LCD tv died... both plugged into the same terminal
strip. There was NO WAY my wife was going to do without her TV, so
I was instructed to move the tv from the daughters room into the livingroom while I am waiting for a replacement power supply for the
LCD tv. Well, I didn't really want to do that !!! That sucker is
Heeehh-Veeeee !!! and I want to shoot it anyway. Hmmmm, what to do ??
If Moma ain't happy, nobody's happy !!! A quick decision to live
without a few mickey-D's greasy cheesie burgers for a few weeks,
( won't hurt me to loose a few pounds anyway ), and I told Sharon
that I wanted to just go and buy another small LCD tv instead. She
didn't see spending the extra money on another tv, but I pleaded
my radio cause in the case, and my daughter immediately came to my
aide at the thought of getting a new LCD tv in her room, I can't
quite figure it out, but she has some type of persuaive ability
about her, ( hmmmm ) and soon Moma was OK with the idea, so off to
the store, and back home with a new 26 inch LCD tv. I hurriedly
hook it up, and turn it on. Man !! great picture, head for the radio,
and turn it on..... Jeeze, NO NOISE !!!! Fabumundo !!! So just a few
more days, and I can pitch that old noise making beast in the parts
pile. Moma's happy, daughter's happy, and Andy's happy !! startin to
get kinda tired of those burgers anyway... Lookin forward to a much
quieter winter listening season this year now...
73 all, and have a great day ::
