[Lowfer] I need an Inverted keying circuit idea

Hi all:

I found my erratic frequency problem. I was floating the Osc. Gnd.
and using the K1EL to key it to Gnd. This worked fine on the other 
Epson Osc. but not on this one for some reason. With Gnd's connected,
the Osc. runs continuously. I have 2 possibilities of keying.
The K1EL pulls to Gnd, So !! I either Make and Break the voltage
line on the Osc. which will require an external relay, I don't want
to go that route. Or, as Lyle pointed out in the article; an inverter
circuit is needed. I tried connecting a MC14049 HEX Buffer/Inverter
in the key line thru the protection resistor. I can get it to key
the XMTR, but it will not unkey. I am not a designer, will someone
tell me what I'm not doing right so I can get this thing keying again.
