[Lowfer] 1750 meter band skip zone

The experts I have corresponded with say it is just like AM broadcast.
Ground wave out to 30-60miles
day and night, with less than 300 miles skiped over( the umbrella
effect) I have not been able to copy
CV(254mi) very well only partials. I did copy MO well at a distance of
about 212 miles, when he was active, he also copied me well. I note
Garry and Peter often copy WEB better than I, but I attribute that to
better rec equipment.Web is 425mi from me.

A friend of mine has a text book that says below 300khz propagation is
inverse of sunspots.

Old timers used to tell me that 10meters was open some where everyday.
That was proven with the novice enhancement back in the 90's. When
novice and techs were given 10 meters the band changed dramatically
when more stations were active. Six was the same, when I was licensed
techs did not have two meters( that came in 61 or 62) so all the techs
were on six. Six was frequently open, probably is now but with fewer
ops doesnt seem that way.

I believe your question can be best answered by the beacon chasers.
