[Lowfer] I need the formula to calculate needed turns on a coil

   Better remember that this will give you the wrong 
answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This procedure is fine for a 
high permeability toroidal core but not for a solenoid.  Reason is that 
the inductance goes down with the length as shown in the simple form of 
Whee'er's formula someone quoted.  That equation will give pretty 
accurate [better than a couple of percent] for coils with a 
length/diameter ratio between about 0.5 amnd 2, which probably covers 
your situation.
