The grass will grow through it in a few weeks if you water it enough.
Serious, it may take a month of helping the grass grow faster but it
will be covered and make a very nice ground screen. Buzz the grass real
short before you roll it out and solder it all together. That'll allow
it to lay good and flat. Cover the area under the tophat and out about
50' total from the feedpoint and you should see a significant
improvement in radiated signal. Make sure you plant some fancy flowers
for the XYL while your out there. You'll likely then get a couple good
benefits out of all your work...hi hi...
