Jim, I remember from your first post that you were thinking about
slanting the vertical. My experience with that was poor. My first
attempt was with a slanted vertical, results were horrible.
The closer the top of a vertical is to the earth, the greater the
losses from the earth. I recommend keeping it as straight up as
possible. Alan Melia gave you some great advise, and it is exactly
the way my ant. is setup. Go up 30', and out 20'; put as many wires
in a circular tophat over unobstructed earth as you can. Ground
radials from 30' to 50' as many as you can accomodate will help
greatly. BUT DON'T !!! forget the variometer. You'll find it to be
the heart of the antenna system. Good Luck.
Everybody please forgive me for my momentary rant;
I may be " piss-weak " but when I hit the ground ! I splatter
all over the place !!! Now go ahead and laugh so hard that you
phart, and let's go on and have some fun !!!
