Hi Andy, Rick, Lowfers,
For what it's worth, I do as Rick and just leave everything on and keep
my fingers crossed. In the 20 years I've been at this QTH, I've only
had one instance of lightning damage. That happened in the first week
I was here, and before any towers where erected, go figure!!
I've got a pretty good grounding system for my three towers, with each
one having its own ground rod(s) and also being tied together and to
virtually everything metal in the immediate area like fences, the mast
for my windmill, etc.
All of my electronic equipment is powered by a Trace Engineering
inverter, which is tied to the grid, but acts as a "buffer" to anything
nasty that may come in on the mains.
