Alan:

    What's the story on the "sun spots" reported in Paul's original 
reference?  Real or some other quantity related to solar activity.  I 
find the RSGA to be very useful and I have a recording magnetometer 
[really sort of a micro compass] here which correlates pretty well and 
gives me continuous readouts.  Shows effects of solar disturbances, some 
of which are pretty interesting and show up as pulses in the middle of 
the night.
