Hello All:

I have never purchased LITZ wire before, but have heard that
the price is high. I have found some 20 strand - 40 guage,
unserved LITZ that is 9 cents per foot. Is this a good price?
Thanks for your  input;

Hi Andy,
You didn't give any information on what frequency you plan to use the wire
on
or whether you plan to use it for transmitting or receiving?

I assume you want to use the wire in the Lowfer band? #40 AWG stranded Litz
 is
correct for the 100-200KHz frequency range.

20 strands of #40 gauge wire = 20/40 Litz wire is awfully small wire,
equivalent to about #27 gauge round wire. This would only be good for receiving
use and probably small even for a loop
antenna.

For transmitting use you would want something heavier like 270 strands of
#40 gauge wire = 270/40 Litz wire. This would be equivalent to #16 gauge
round wire
and would build a reasonable size loading coil of low RF resistance.
