The 570 actually works pretty good down to the bottom of the NDB band (190 kHz 
or so). Haven't really tried it lower than that seriously, but it couldn't 
pick up WWVB while the Yeasu can.

But the 570 actually did pretty good--with the pre-amp on and connecting it to 
my VHF/UHF j-pole antenna I was able to capture my first twenty or so NDBs. 
So it's not "bad", the 857 is just better.

I don't think it's filtering that limits the 570 on the low end, I think it's 
just that things in the signal path weren't really specified to go that low. 
So it starts fading as you get below 200 kHz or so.

Actually I ought to characterize both of them at some point.
