[Lowfer] Should I remove excess windings from my variometer ??

Hello LOWfers;

After finishing my variometer, I probably have about 1.5mH too much
inductance in the coil. I tap the transmitter up from the bottom 
until an easy match is found. I have tried shorting out the unused
turns, and running them open,either way, there is only a very small 
amount of retuning that I have to do, and I do not see any increase 
in output either way. I know that the greatest emphasis is on
minimizing losses; Do the extra turns below the transmitter eat any
power ??? What are some of the groups experiences ??
