Hi Mike,
Ah, another IT guy ... thanks and good advice.
The setup is with System Commander, which to this time has been w/o a hitch.
It controlls two OSs. DOS 6.2 loaded first, then Win 95.
There are two hard drives, the larger, faster one is C:
FDisk (opt 4) shows only drive C:
Odd, when booted from a system boot disk (A:) some files only are availavbe on drive C:, but no Dirs seen.
Don't think a virus caused it as no external writing to that pc.
And yes I have the S-C rescue disk. The instructions were clear to reload the boot system
but no-go. It found some fault (don't remember now).
If I knew what went wrong I'd feel more confident on a fix. Yes, have't reloaded anything yet.
I have some time to "think" it through ;=)
Do you have direct knowledge with S-C?
Peter

Peter! Don't reload until you've tried reinstalling the boot loader from
a rescue disk or other media. The OSes and data may all still be there,
patiently waiting.
