[Lowfer] Observations while copying WOLF

For the last 2 days, I have been copying the Johns WOLF transmissions on
508.500. The signals are extremely strong (S7). I get good print for the
first 2 time periods and then it goes out of lock. I am using the SDR-IQ
receiver and running WOLF on the same computer. I thought that perhaps there
was too much going on in the computer so I routed the SDR audio to another
computer running an instance of WOLF. I had the same problem. Then I fired
up my Yaesu FT-920 which has an absolutely outstanding L.F. receiver in it
... an analog receiver. Using this I received virtually perfect copy for
over an hour. Later on in the evening when the signal took some fades, I
lost lock but it was many order of magnitude better then my SDR.
I am wondering if SDR's, due to the fact that they receive the signal by
sampling the RF passband rather then receiving by a more traditional analog
method (no sampling, continuous) have some basic limitations in some digital
modes ... I hope that you catch my drift on this. I also want to experiment
more on audio levels out of the SDR ... perhaps I'm over driving the input
to WOLF. I am keeping the audio inpit indicator down in the lower quarter
however.
	Has anyone else noticed this?
