Bill
I would like to have a schematic. I have several of the 5.188 xtals .
how do you get the divide by 28.

i also have considered using my norcal fcc1/2 synthesizer and counter. I
have used it as a signal generator it has 1hz resolution.

My beacon on 187.5 uses a 6.0mhz xtal. With no temmp compension I have
about .8hz drift day to night. I am thinking of epoxying a wheat lamp to the
xtal for compensation.

I use the mouser 5.188 xtal in several of my qrp ssb rigs.

Hey Peter,

If you are interested in constructing an exciter for the Pt 15 watering hole
for about $2.00 use a 5.188 xtal (only 40 cents from Mouser, but highly stable)
and divide by 28. Use a series trimmer cap to pull the 185.18 base frequency up
to what ever you want. I have found that using a separate FET oscillator rather
than a Cmos divider chip that includes a front end oscillator stage, is more
pullable and more frequency stable. Let me know if you need the schematic.

report, a price quote from the M H vendor of cut crystals.> > They will
do a special freq for $20 and $6 S&H. Price goes down for> two or
more.> > Seems like an OK deal given the small order. Takes 2-3
weeks.> > I believe I'll spec it high so as to pad it as needed. Now just
how much should that be.> > P>
