Hi Lewis: I hope this will help you to calibrate
ARGO's display for SSB. It worked for me. Tune in WWV
in the A.M. mode on a frequency where the signal is
strong. open ARGO's calibration menu, in the
calculated frequency ( top number ) replace the 1000 -
with the number 500 ( Hz ) , make sure the frequency
offset is " 0" Every other minute the tone you hear
WWV transmitting is a 500 cycle tone, the next minute
it will be a 600 cycle tone. using the full band view,
while WWV is transmitting the 500 cycle tone, click on
that line you see on or near 500, ARGO will tell you
the exact frequency of the tone as far as your
soundcard is reading at the top left of the screen. If
it's not 500; then type the number that ARGO shows the
frequency to be into the " received frequency " window
in the calibration menu. This will correct your ARGO
display error ( if any ) to work with your sound card.
Then in the full band view the 500 cycle tone should
be at 500, and the 600 cycle tone should be at 600. If
anything gets all messed up, just " reload factory
defaults " , and start over.
I found the " onboard sound " of my computer was 10
cycles off. Calibrating the display put frequencies
where they were supposed to be. I ended up switching
to a PCI soundcard and it was " dead on ".
I hope this is useful for you: 73, Andy - KU4XR
