Anyone know the reason why they fail prematurely in a yard light application? I went through my first CFL yard light in a period of a month. This bulb had a larger base than the std edison bulb and had an external circuit board that included a power supply plus daylight sensor. The replacement lasted 2 months, so I gave up and returned to my power-hungry mercury vapor light.
