John, okay too, Yes I have a paper by Bill out here now but it's on Litz and H-Q "bucket" coils.

Now I remember his work on the monster ferrite rod, what, some 3-feet long? Still that's seems different
than, say, a component to a vertical ant. You say the Al is the key on good specs here. Okay.

I'll look for the prior Bower's work in my LowDowns.

Peter,

The need for high Q in a loading coil for receiving is not as great, as 
there is usually an excess of signal+noise, and you can easily stay well 
above the receiver's noise level. And as Pete points out, the current is 
very small and not an issue. On the other hand, you might have a problem
