I always had good results with regenerative loops. I'll probably build one
as I don't have a good LF ant. I need to put back up my Beverage ant when
the weather gets better.

I found my copy of the loop article which compares ferrite loops to
air-core, its:
"Calibrating LF Antennas Using DFC39" Electronics World August 2002.
The critical parameter which ultimately determines signal to noise is
'effective height"
