I received a forwarded message from Steve Ratzlaff that SAQ is scheduling a
test for April 22 at 10:00 UTC. That would be 6 AM EDT Tuesday morning. I hope
everyone interested will get a chance to listen that day. Weather looks to
be clear in the Southeast for the next several days in a row so reception on
VLF may be fairly decent early Tuesday morning. Another way to check if SAQ
is on the air is to visit the Sheffield, UK remote VLF receiver, a part of
the Worldwide Lightning Locator Network. Their address is -

Hi all,
SAQ is the ID of a vlf vintage tubeless transmitter (alternator) located at
Grimeton, Sweden, and is declared by UNESCO as Cultural World Heritage. Beside
the official transmissions in July and on Christmas Eve, test transmissions
are conducted from time to time to maintain and service the equipment. The
next test transmission will take place on April 22 nd. 10:00 utc. 11:00 local
time. SAQ engineers are interested to receive reports on signal strength and
shape of the keyed carrier. Reports can be sent to :

                         _info at grimetonradio.se_
(mailto:info at grimetonradio.se) .

Reports sent to _ndb at yahoogroups.com_ (mailto:ndb at yahoogroups.com) will be
conveyed by me to SAQ.

 Best listening
