J.B.,
On second thought the orientation of your delta loop could be a problem as well. An electrically small loop (say your 333' delta loop on 185kHz) has its maximum radiation (or sensitivity) off the edges and a null broadside. An electrically large loop (your loop on 80 meters for example) has its max broadside and a null off the edges. At 600 meters your loop is not electrically small (nor is it truly large in terms of wavelength) so you may have a skewed pattern. In addition to the attenuation in the front end of the TS-440 your antenna pattern may have a null to the east on 600 meters.
My recommendations:
1) Fix the attenuator problem in the TS-440!
2) If you are still not getting comparable signals try another antenna, perhaps another loop with a different orientation.
