Regarding your antenna question -- I've never used the Jupiter-T, but I
have built and used this antenna
http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/pdf/0210036.pdf with Garmin-25 modules, eTrex
Legend, and Aisin modules.

It's easy to build, there is no DC path (so it won't matter if your unit
is trying to power a preamp down the coax), and you can eat the cream
cheese before you get started!
