Thank You, that gave me some things to look at.  My chipset is:

ESS Technologies ESS688 & Yamaha OPL3 (YMF262)

I have just tested it down to 5512 using two other programs with no
problems.  Is there an older version of ARGO I could try?  Is there a way to
manually set the bandwidth?
