That's a possibility Mike. I would have paid the cost of a plane ticket to
be able to check out the far field at ~4 miles while he rolled it up. I'm
suspecting there was something going on with the way he connected to the
screen and a possibly there was a current path in the screen that didn't
increase the Vcc current. The input power could have been a constant but the
current in the antenna could have increased. Then again, Bill B didn't have
and acurate way to measure that 6db. Could have been less. Geez there's
times when I wish I had an open field and could play with a vertical.
