Peter, I think that was Mitch that used a PC monitor flyback core, (actually 
two ferrite 'C' cores) in his loop coupling. This is a good approach for 
 >>1w applications because the core saturation point can be adjusted while 
keeping the inductance of the primary as high as possible, simply by 
changing the spacer between the halves.
