The audio application is acoustic. You are creating pressure waves in air
that propagate at 1130 feet per second. A wavelength at 18 kHz is about 3/4
of an inch. So that dish is about 32 wavelengths in diameter.
The 50 MHz application is electromagnetic. You are creating electric and
magnetic fields that propagate at 9.84*10^8 feet per second. The wavelength
is 19.7 feet, and the dish is only 0.1 wavelengths in diameter.
