I saw an interesting setup once.  It was a 100W driver at the focal point of
about a 48" solid steel dish.  I have no idea what it was used for and it
appeared to be old.  The driver was at least I recognized it as part of a PA
system built in the mid-60's.

I know some of my fellow birders
use similar size dishes for listening to bird songs at a distance so
maybe?  Can anyone explain why a 2' dish will not even work well at 50
Mhz, but does provide gain at the audio frequencies?
