You might want to avoid that thermocouple altogether. It may add enough
series resistance to be significant. I have used 100:1 and 50:1 current
transformers with diode rectifiers. If you use a 100:1 transformer and
terminate the secondary with a 20 ohm resistor, you get 5 volts RMS across
the resistor with 25 amps on the primary. A half-wave rectifier and a cap
will yield 7.07 volts less the drop in the diode. That arrangement will
reflect 20/(100^2) = 2 milliohms into the loop circuit.
