Peter, I've settled on the ceramic caps (8 x 100pf) as my 'final answer' for
the Q question, as they work on the outside loop as well as the bench loop.
Now I can get that loop on the air.
I'm finding that the prices in Digi-Key aren't that much higher than Dan's
and will order and test at least 10 each from 5 or so COG ceramic types
listed. I see that 100v caps are available so this should eliminate the
concern for break down. I've never had any luck with CK style caps at RF but
it is probably because they were the Z5U or X7R variety. The CKs may also
have problems with moisture absorption in an outside environment.
It's strange that I can find no applications information on the Web about
these neat little caps. What's also strange is that the prices for the COG
versions are about the same as the for the much lower Q, and temp stabile,
Z5U and X7Rs. Any ceramic capacitor experts out there?
