Don't know who else to mention this to.

This afternoon while watching satellite TV, I heard a crack from either my
scanner or answering machine and the TV screen got a little fuzzy.  A couple
more popping sounds, and each time the screen got worse, just a fraction of
a second later.  I went to the kitchen thinking there was a serious
electrical problem and again I heard a pop, this time it clearly sounded
like static discharge. and the screen on the TV was so bad I couldn't see
the picture, flipping channels I found others with the same problem.
Suddenly a blue screen came on mentioning electromagnetic storms and
downlink blackouts.  I find it interesting that there was a pulse of
somesort that passed my house discharging into my equipment then passing
through a satellite I was watching a fraction of a second later with enough
wallop to knock out the bird.

Any comments or ideas?
