Because you're really, really lucky?

Actually, it's simpler than that. The nearest Loran site to me is on
Nantucket Island, which is 120 miles away, and part of the path is over
water. The lines are noticeably brighter when I aim my loop at folks like
MP, LEK, XDW, and so forth, as Nantucket is then off the back of the loop. I
have fewer problems when aimed at most of the other targets, as they are
mostly at right angles to Nantucket from my QTH.
