Alberto, it will be great if you can provide phase shifted outputs, because
the audio phase shift network is the most complicated part of the phasing
exciter circuit. I have run into the problem of time delay between channels
that John Davis mentions, but in my case (using a Soundblaster Live card),
the delay appears to be much less on the output than on the input. The
problem on the input is fairly serious at 10 kHz and above, but if it is a
fixed delay, it would not be as much of a concern at frequencies of 1 kHz
and below. Perhaps phase and amplitude calibration controls could be
incorporated into the software.
Another item for the wish list: Alberto, would it be possible to modify
Spectran and/or Argo to accept two phase-quadrature input channels? If so,
it would greatly simplify the design of a single sideband direct conversion
receiver.
