Assuming you can receive WWV at 5,10 or 15MHz in AM mode, one of the best
(easiest ?) ways to calibrate Argo is with the very precise 500 and 600
hertz tones that alternate _most_ of the hour. You can check their web site
for a listing of which minutes have which tone. A few minutes are blank,
some have a voice message and the first minute of each hour is 440 hetz, the
A above middle C. Since it is AM, the accuracy and stability of the
receiver have no effect on the frequency of the tone recovered.
(www.boulder.nist.gov and go to the services provided area)
I recently got a new computer with the sound integrated on the
motherboard....have to put 612.5 into the Argo calibration window when
listening to the 600hz tone.
