Bill, Paul

Did some quick calculations on Paul's loops. With the two loops in free =
space (no ground loss consideration) the difference between 0.625 copper =
tubing and RG-59/U (treating the shield as solid - which it isn't) would =
be 5.6 dB. I'm measuring a 10 dB difference at my location 3 miles away. =

Skin depth at 1.704 is about 2 mils vs. 6 mils or so at .185 which may =
help to explain the poor shield performance as a loop conductor higher =
in frequency.=20

Once Paul gets a current reading the ground losses can be calculated. At =
least the ground losses should knock the ultra high Qs down somewhat. =
Paul mentioned that driving near the loop on his tractor messes it up!=20
