The AMRAD group did some work modifying the RX-320 a few years ago. I took a
quick look at their site:
http://www.amrad.org this morning, but couldn't find the modifications. You
might turn them up by doing a web search with RX-320 and AMRAD as keywords.
That receiver seemed to work well for that group when they were active.

Oddly, I see very little mention of the RX-320 among the Lowfer group. A
common (and good) receiver is the Icom R75. No modifications are required,
assuming a decent antenna (or an indecent one with a preamp) ahead of it.
Many of the HF ham transceivers also offer LF reception. I find that I
prefer the R75 to my more expensive IC746PRO ham rig, though.

If money is tight, Ebay may be your friend.
