(PLEASE see my question, at the bottom)
Yeah, due to my antenna is so short...so I needed a lot of L. Don't know
how this one will perform compared to the little one I have in place now.
There are about 179' of #12 in the variometer and 782' of #12 in the coil.
It's so wide because I was going for twice as wide as long (tall).
But my question was this:
The design from AWG-COIL was for it to be about 33" in diameter and about
16.5" long (tall :) ... and 92 turns and a pitch of 2.
But for some reason, when I'd wound 92 turns, the coil was only 11" long.
(and now for the question)
Isn't it true that I need to stretch the turns out over the 16" called for
in the design to reach the target inductance? The wraps will be a little
further apart, instead of close wound, but not very much. If I don't do
this, the L will be too high. Right?
Thanks,
Eric
(oh yeah, I know I'm nuts)
