I run my own mail server too.  My connection is through (my regional Baby 
Bell) DSL.  My IP address has been the same since January, but today 
sometime it changed.

I keep the Time To Live field for MX records short in my dns so that if 
this DOES happen, some dns out there won't have an invalid address cached 
for two weeks :)  But, the address had changed and it was a few hours 
before I had the opportunity to update dns :(
