Most will automatically retry, but it stretches out the retries, i.e. can't
connect now, try in 5 minutes, then 30, then 4hrs. Part of the smtp method.
Will cover a miss from a dropped packet or a cable being switched between
machines in a short time without filling the bandwidth with retries every 30
seconds for a machine in a building that has burnt down ;-)
What went down? Your local hardware/power or net connection? Just
curious....I run my own mail, web and ftp servers here...use Time-Warner RR
