OH yeah.

Last night I mounted the active whip on the end of a 23' chain link fence 
top-rail post and stuck it up in the air.  This put the whip above the top 
of the house.

Right away I was able to hear NDB GLS on Galveston Island, TX.  I don't 
know how far that is in miles (what is that website where you can put in 
two cities and get the "as the crow files" mileage?) but it's a good 13 
hours away by car and it's highway all the way.

There is stuff all over the dial!  I didn't take time to try to hear the 
weaker signals.  I'll wait for the static crashes to die.

But all in all, I'm VERY pleased with the active whip.
