[Lowfer] IC-756 PRO for LF Work?

I used a 756 PRO for essentially all of my LowFER reception last season. It
doesn't have as much sensitivity on LF as my old IC-751A, but that's not a
problem because I use a tuned preamp anyway. One minor complaint -- the DSP
IF apparently doesn't use the TCXO reference, and exhibits a small amount of
frequency error. Only noticeable if you're receiving very narrowband modes
like QRSS30, where an offset of 0.1 Hz on the screen is easily visible. So
far I haven't noticed any spurs on LF. Probably there, but buried under all
the other garbage coming in the antenna...

Regarding the uncalibrated pitch control in the IC-746: I believe it is
digitally controlled, and the end points are calibrated. So as long as
you're satisfied with 300 or 900 Hz, or whatever the end points are, you
should be OK.
