LowFERs,
Last night I was back watching a working Argo at 185.300. I started at
7P, MP was clear at 9P on E-W loop, I next switched to the N-S loop and
didn't find anything. No timed captures of early AM offerings but was
watching at 12A and noticed nothing on N-S loop.
---------- OTHER --------------
I think I'm over the PC glitch using a SB card. After bringing it in to
work, a tech pointed out that the BIOS was configured for manual setting
of the IRQ for audio. Although the settings for sound looked reasonable
it still conflicted w/ a jumper on a different SB card (this time an ISA
card, vs the PCI before). Further, Win95 PnP also did its thing trying
to install it. It was a mess. All was fixed by a chosen setting for the
card IRQ for an open channel and setting the BIOS to AUTO for audio.
This got out of the way of Win95 and PnP worked from there.
So how did all this happen? Well I got a "volunteer" pc that I wanted
only for Argo use. It was configured for another's use and abandoned,
missing its sound card. I thought I could clean off some HD space,
install my SB card and be happy. That was not to be. My usual
disposition of "Let sleeping dogs lie" was far from benign as it turned
out. I shuda paid more attention to BIOS settings, didn't, and wasted a
weeks worth of time. Nonetheless, I hope I can capitalize on the
experience. (Oh, in that process, I managed to short out a working CD
drive and nice monitor flashed goodbye. Plus all the pc repairs in the
kitchen put the wife into a spin. Hmm, something tells me a dinner out
is in the offing. ;} )
