[Lowfer] Argo Problem

Hi Peter,
This is probably just a Windows Mixer problem.
Can you record a .wav file from your radio using Sound Recorder,
or an audio editing program such as Cool Edit?
If I remember correctly, Sound Recorder in Win 95 is under
Programs->Accessories or Programs->Accessories->Entertainment.
If Sound Recorder does not work, select Edit->Audio Properties,
and make sure that the right device is selected. Then, find
the volume controls for recording, and make sure that the correct
input is selected, and the gain is up. If you have disabled
the normal Windows mixer, you need to find the recording settings
in your SB control panel. I know nothing about this.
If for some reason, you can't control the record mixer, but the
gain is not zero, try connecting your radio to the mic inputs on
the SB, if you were previously using the line inputs, or vice versa.
Of course, you'll need to send suitable levels.
If, when you installed the SB-16, you used the disks that came
with the board, possibly the driver is too old to record properly
under Win 95. Look on the Creative site for newer drivers.
If Sound Recorder works fine but Argo doesn't, perhaps Argo is
using the wrong device. If your new PC has another sound card,
or sound built into the motherboard, try removing or disabling
those devices. Some modems (that have voicemail capability)
also look like sound cards. If you have such, try uninstalling
or disabling the audio device.
Finally, if your new PC did come with other audio hardware, you
might try using it, instead of the SB-16.
Good luck,
Stewart KK7KA
