Possibly you do not have the line input selected in the "Record" controls.
Normally when you double-click the speaker icon, it opens the playback mixer
controls, which affect the sound coming out of the speaker but not the
levels that Argo sees. To get to the record settings, go to "Options" in the
playback mixer, then "Properties", and click the button for "Adjust volume
for recording".

There is also a shortcut that should work on most Windows computers. Click
on the "Start" button, then hit R for "Run", type in the "command
sndvol32.exe -r" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. This will bring up the
record sliders.
