All,
Re: ARGO & Sound Blaster Woes

Last week I was trying to use ARGO into a 486 DX2 laptop. It didn't
work, often crashing w/ blue screen and an exception msg.

Now have a Pentium pc w/ Win95 and a Sound Blaster-16 PCI card and
still can't get ARGO 131 to work.

1. The pc is newly setup. I loaded W95 and put in a new SB-16 sound
card. Loaded ARGO 131 and ran it. The display scrolls but there's no
difference when the Line In from the rx is disconnected. I have ARGO's
sensitivity set at mid-range, Visual Gain on Agc. The small square, top
left side, flickers, but the LH vertical bar does NOT rise. Does this
indicate no input?

2. When I was using the laptop w/ built-in sound, ARGO's Vert Bar was
almost to the top.

3. I have audio out from the rx as it drives a cassette player as a
test. Also, when feed into the sound card
and speakers are also attached to the card they play the rx sounds.
However, I've not found a way to adjust the volume of the speakers so
attached. Is this a problem?

4. Finally, opening the control panel for the volume control/s shows
the sliders, 4 of them for various features. Adjusting any of these has
no affect on anything, seems odd.

Any thoughts on my mess? Being a weekend I'm not usually at work (now)
so will check mail Sunday around noon.

Thanks all. Peter
