Hi Peter,

Frank's mixer-input transformer mod is still on the AMRAD site, but fairly well
buried; the direct link is:

http://www.amrad.org/projects/lf/rx/RX320LFMod.pdf

Additionally, I've messed around with this fabulous-for-the-money radio quite a
bit, and have some very simple mods for the front-end that dramatically improve
the LF sensitivity. If you get one, I'll gladly send you the details.

Stability is marginal for LF; one would need to keep it in a temerature controlled
zone. The reason is the three crystals within it all affecting the outcome.

It is dissimilar to the SDR approach, in that it is quite a conventional receiver
architecture with the exception that the last IF is centred at 12kHz and all
filtering and demodulation done in a DSP chip, rather than making the Pentium
in your PC think it's a DSP.

That said, there'd be nothing to stop you taking the 12kHz IF output
(conveniently on an RCA on the back of the 'D') and feeding it into the
soundcard and having at it with SpecLab or Alberto's new program.

        All the best,

                Steve
