All,
Re: More On The FB2 Keyer And Issue Of QRSS
Looking further at the ESS Web site for the FB2 keyer, I note it is
built around a modern-ish PIC, 1 16F628, but was based early on for the
smaller 16F84. I looked at the downloadable code and found it to be
structured and readable. The area for dit-dah lengths identifies keydown
times for the various code speeds, 5WPM being the stated lowest. It
seems that here augmentation for slower speeds would be a possibility.

Lyle's post (12-2) on the SDR took me to the following site which also
had a keyer kit offering a versatile means of changing messages for
about $45.
The FB2 uses a PIC and has a modest parameter-controlling command set
from which keying speeds are stated at 5wpm and up. But there are
timed
'hold' commands that seemingly may stretch out code chars, hence
slower
WPM. The PIC, being programmable, should be capable of offering QRSS
keying, though not specifically done so for this kit.
This may be a better direct application for Med- and HiFERing than LF
QRSS apps.
Q: Has anyone looked into this item or poked around with one? Ideas?
