My first big loop was located about 25 feet from a tower guy wires. I
used it in this location for a few months then moved it to a location
about 100 feet from the guy wires. I couldn't tell any difference in
audible noise but Spectran sure showed a cleaner display. Last winter I
moved the loop to a location about 500 feet from all towers and wires.
I could not tell any improvement in noise or trans-Atlantic receptions
at this distance so I'll probably move it back location #2, 100 feet
from the wires.

I have conduit underground which connects two buildings to the house.
The conduit carrier AC power, phone, a 25 pair cable and several fiber
optic cables. I can easily locate this conduit with a small loop so it
definitely radiates RF. I have even been able to locate the 15KV
underground cable buried 5 feet underground for a distance of 500 feet
across an open field with an AM radio with internal loop stick antenna.

So my suggestion is to locate the rx loop at least 100 feet away from
anything that can re radiate rf. I've often wondered how much noise the
coax connecting the loop to the shack radiates noise. I do know that
isolation transformers in line with the coax eliminates a lot of noise.
