Well, a long 50/60 Hz transmission line starts behaving
like an RF transmission line. The transmission line equations
give more accurate results than traditional calculations
based on circuit theory.

This is true, these are synchronous motors, and are
electrically similar to generators. They run at the
exact grid frequency (3600/1800 rpm for 60 Hz, 3000/1500
rpm for 50 Hz) and a special procedure is required to
start them. Because their exitation current can be
varied independently of power output, they can be
made to behave like capacitors. They are not very
common, but they do exist.
