One other reason I wanted to see a screen capture was to examine the
"signature" of the signal. I watched (in QRSS3) and listened for a hundred
days straight to AZ at 12WPM from Arizona earlier this year and I developed
the impression that QRSS wouldn't have done much to improve reception. I
know there is a definate potential advantage to QRSS but that seems
somewhat offset when you can't apply your ears as well as eyes to decoding.
I could make out AZ by ear before I could decode it visually (NDB mode).
An experiment I ran at that time was to filter and detect the 171 milliHertz
repetition rate or cadence of that signal and I could get quite a ways down
into the noise that way as well as automating the process. I let it run
without watching or listening and it alerted me when AZ was about to
appear.HI
I suspect that alternating might be the best way to go for now. Is there any
custom as to when to send slow or fast, such as QRSS on the hour and CW on
the half?
